District 12 Inspired Cowl

If you have seen the new Hunger Games Movie, Catching Fire, you likely saw the awesomesauce cowl like thing that Katniss wears in the beginning of the movie. If you haven't, here it is along with the pattern by Lion Brand that it inspired. You can find the link to the crochet pattern here.

I could not wait to make one for myself. I used the yarn that Lion Brand recommended and only made a slight alteration to the pattern after reading the user reviews. I chained 70 in the beginning which added an additional 3 popcorns and then decreased to 60 on row 7 by skipping every sixth stitch. I loved the way it turned out and it took me less than 6 hours to make it.

Kelley's at camp, still

My big girl went to camp this week for the first time by herself. She's been to church camp before with my sister and my mom, and she's spent a couple weeks in Texas with her uncle and aunt before but never, ever, ever have I had to go this long without being able to talk to her.

I can't call her.

I can email her but she can't email back. She'll be home on Saturday.

Since she's been gone I have been looking through every picture on the camp's website to try to see if she's having a good time. Well it looks like she is.

That is not a ghost or a place where we forgot to paint on the second photo there thats just a light reflection cause they are super glossy and fabulous! and because I don't own a real camera and that's as good as the iphone gets.

Sorry no fancy food-tography here. It's just me and the iphone

I just have to share this with you. I totally stalk this blog called Confessions of a Cookbook Queen. She's a genius, Just saying.

A little while ago she posted a recipe for homemade fudge rounds you know by the little debbie gal?

Well these are definitely like that, look like it, smell like it, but they are about 100 times better. My bestie ate one and said "that's the best thing I ever put in my mouth". Yes, they ARE that good.

So if you think I'll just go buy me some fudge rounds then PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SAVE YOUR SELF!!! These are soooo much better.

Recipe here.

This is me with some treasures

Hello there.... um Nobody

Well here I am again talking about nothing to nobody cause so far no one knows that I even blog. I guess I'm too embarrassed to tell the people I know that I have a blog because I'd be afraid that they'd read it.

It's the first day of Week 3 of WW online and I lost 1.4 lbs this week for a total of 2.2 lbs since I started. It's slow going but the WW folks put on every other inch of their web page that I should expect to lose 1-2 lbs per week. So far so good, loss is a loss.

John (the hubs) and I went to an auction in Madison County (THE BOONIES) it seemed like it was 10 miles down a dirt road and we ran into this guy and his hens.

So COOL! We were thinking it might have been someones pet because he wasn't skittish at all. That or maybe he's used to random people stopping in the middle of the road snapping pictures with their iPhone.

We got a great deal on a dresser and chest of drawers that looked like they were about 50 years old but in decent condition. Kelley needed something more durable and and extra set of drawers to hold all her clothes so we let her pick a color and John got to painting.

Stay tuned for the finished product. HAPPY MONDAY well nobody...

Kid (well Kacy) approved Kacy-dillas

We got the girls a pool from Sam's club on Sunday. One of those Intex frame pools with the liner. So far we've been patting ourselves on the back nightly cause the first thing the girls want to do when they get home is run out there and jump in.

That being said I have been trying to figure out some quick to fix things for these summer like evenings when we just don't feel like cooking a big meal. We've been eating a lot of sandwiches.

Well enter the Kacy-dilla (quesadilla). So easy! I just took one of the Mission Cheddar and Jalapeno wraps (6 pluspoints, 210 calories), 1/2 cup of Kraft 2% Mexican style cheese (4 PP, 160 calories), and 3 oz Tyson Grilled and Ready Oven Roasted Diced Chicken Breast (3 pp, 110 calories). I put the wrap on my oven top griddle on low and sprinkled half the cheese on the bottom to melt. Meanwhile I heated up the chicken in a skillet and the cut it up into smaller pieces. I then put the chicken on the cheese side of the Kacy-dilla and topped it with the remaining cheese, folded it, and then turned it over to melt the cheese. DELICIOSO!!

Kacy said and I quote "this is kickin'".

I should have taken a picture but she ate it too quickly. So I'll leave you with this one...
